TURNING POINT TUESDAY: HEALING FOR YOUR PAST AND HOPE FOR YOUR FUTURE!

I remember a conversation I had with a complete stranger a couple of months ago.  Not knowing who I was or what I represented this individual began to share how the past was taking over her life.  Causing  fear, anxiety, broken relationships, lack of sleep, thoughts of suicide, and overall a lower quality of life.  The most important thing I could do was listen, because she expressed not having anyone she felt comfortable enough to talk to.  Even though I had never met this lady before and may not ever see her again my heart felt her pain.  I prayed with her and offered my phone number, but I haven't heard from her since. 


I wanted to put a band aid over her past and fix it, but I couldn't.  The reason I couldn't fix it is because I as a mere human being do not have the power or ability to fix it.  Are you still being haunted by a past experience or event?    Many times the ugly memories of our past play in our heads like a broken record steering  people away from fulfilling their Dynamic Destiny.  You might be thinking Kendra does not know enough about this topic to address it.  The simple fact is I know more than enough about having a painful past.  For years and years I allowed the enemy to play tricks on me and make me feel like I was not Good Enough to follow God's will for my life, because of my past mistakes.  I felt like what I had done was so bad that nobody would ever want to hear what I had to say.  This was the deceiver's voice, because God's voice defeated the whispers of the enemy and revealed to me that he wanted to use me in spite of my past because he did not remember it.  Isaiah 43:25 I even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.


I believe one of the many reasons why people are not living a joyous life is because they can't see beyond the shortcomings of their experiences.  We as humans allow the not so pretty pictures of our experiences to dictate who we presently are in life.  That is why many of us are angry, bitter, and over all frustrated with life.  The feeling of going on a long trip, but never reaching your destination.  You keep asking, "Why is it taking so long and when will I get there?"  You will get there when you start accepting the fact that no one is perfect and you can't keep beating yourself up over the past. Stare your past right in the face and tell it, "If you do not contribute to my PROSPERITY then you have NO POWER in my life!"  Somebody reading this blog has experienced mental and physical abuse.  On the other hand, another reader is the actual abuser.  The point is no matter what seat you are sitting in and no matter how gruesome your past, if you accept Jesus Christ he has the ability to heal the Pains of your Past!  We can't do it of our own strength, but if we rely on the Savior he will do just that Save Us. 


My heart for each and every person is that you will become whole from Inside and Out.  Take time out of your busy schedule to deal with your inner being.  This might mean taking a day off to focus on you and only you.  During your personal time take an inventory of the past hurts and events that are holding you back from fulfilling your purpose.  Many times the problem lies in us running away from the past and not confronting it.  However, true Healing takes place when the Disease is Identified and Treated, NOT Ignored.  Tell your past that you will not allow it to dictate your Destiny.  If God does not Remember it then you do not remember it.  Walk with your head held high because if you are a believer you should know who you are in Christ, Redeemed.  1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  If you are reading this blog and you are not a believer it is not too late for you to receive healing by accepting Jesus Christ. Romans 10:9, That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

TURNING POINT TUESDAY: IT’S TIME TO START RECLAIMING YOUR TIME: What unhealthy situation, relationship, or thing is stealing your TIME?

How we spend our time plays a vital role in living

a healthy and productive life. You probably have heard the saying; There is NOT enough time in a day. I recall times in my life when I was trying to juggle multiple events and it was more than difficult to say the least. Many people will identify with singing this tune, "If I only had more time I would be able to____." Have you used Time as an excuse for not completing an assignment, not achieving a goal, or not attending a function? The reality is God the Magnificent creator of our world and everything in it, knew exactly what he was doing when he perfectly created time. However, because God gives us free will it is up to us to choose how we spend it.

I can honestly say when I look back over my life there are situations, people, and things that took up TOO much of my time. This is something that I allowed to happen and no one's fault but my own. When we allow unhealthy internal and external factors to consume our time it takes away from Fulfilling our Dynamic Destiny. Just think about that relationship you might have with someone that is negatively affecting your spirit. If you have a friend that can't wait to fill your head with gossip and filth, you have to ask, "Is this an effective use of my time?" Or what about that hobby that turns into an addiction? It is important for people to have an outlet to relax and gather their thoughts. However, if that outlet takes time away from the important things in life then it has to go! I recently joined facebook after putting it off due to the negative hype about it in the media. Now I can say I am excited about joining facebook because I have been able to connect with classmates and family members. In contrary, I have to be disciplined in Why and When I access facebook or the Internet, because I refuse to let it take away valuable time I should be spending to better myself and lend a helping hand to someone in need. We as humans can spend all day doing things that are unhealthy for our spirits, but the activities that can actually bless us take up only a small portion of our time. If you do not believe me, "How many hours a day do you watch television verses reading an inspirational book?" What about this one, "How long do you talk on the phone verses volunteering in your community?" This message is not to condemn you, because when I share what is on my heart I am being challenged to Clean Up My Act! My desire is for ALL of us to start evaluating what should and shouldn't take up our time. If something is not helping you or someone else then you should really assess whether or not it should fit into your schedule.

When I think about the fact that hundreds of people did not wake up to see this beautiful day, it really challenges me to make better use of my time. Now hold on to your seats, this is the Whopper question, "How much time do you give to God?" If your prayer life only involves asking God to bless your meal three times a day, I can tell you this is not how you fulfill your Dynamic Destiny. I know because there was a time in my life when I allowed God to take back seat. My job, family, and hobbies became more important than spending time with my Heavenly Father. When it was time to spend time with God in prayer and devotion I became too tired to hold my eyes open. When I think back on this time in my life, I did not have joy, peace, or self control. I was easily agitated by the most insignificant events in life. I promised my readers I would keep it real and that is exactly what I am going to do. My heart is to encourage every one I meet to live a life that is designed by God for you and you only.
A couple of ways you can live a purposeful life is to Take Back your Priorities and Time! For those of you who are really serious about fulfilling your Destiny, I challenge you to document how your time is spent. Starting today, write down your activities and how much time you devote to each activity. Do it for at least 7 days and I guarantee you will have a desire to rearrange your Priority List. By the third day when you take a peek at your log, you might be inspired to restructure and eliminate some dead weight activities in your life. Not only will RECLAIMING your time bless you, it will also bless those who mean so much to you (Our Father which art in heaven, Family, Friends, Community). I leave you with this scripture: Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people). Making the very most of the time (buying up each opportunity), because the days are evil. Ephesians 5:15-16 Amplified.

Who Do You Need to Reunite With? Reconnecting Is Medicine for Your Spirit!

This was the last time I saw my niece over 10 years ago.

God is Good All the Time All the Time God is Good!

My heart is overjoyed because after 10 years I have finally entered into the beginning phases of restoring a relationship with my niece. I think it is important that the readers of this blog get to know my heart in order to really understand why I am so passionate about you fulfilling your DESTINY! For this reason, I deem it necessary that I share important Events that are happening in my life to IGNITE A NEW ME! You might be asking why in the world has ten years went by since Kendra has seen her niece? I lost contact with her after she moved to a different location and I went off to college. For years I had a void in my life because I knew that God was displeased with me not being in my nieces life. To make a long story short I found my nieces mom by using Social Media and I was then able to reunite with my niece! So you see Social Media can be used to Glorify God if you use it the right way.

My question for my readers today is, "What family member or friend do you need to be in Right Relationship with?" I can't help but ask a follow up question. "Who are you avoiding in your life that without a doubt should be a part of your life?" These are very difficult questions to answer for many of us, because it opens the door to past hurts and unhealthy memories. However, in order for us to Walk in Our Dynamic Destiny we have to take care of unfinished business. It is amazing how many people profess to Love the Lord God with all their heart, soul, and mind but are still in strife with their friends and family. Just imagine a woman on her knees praying and spending intimate time with her Creator. She feels at peace when she is talking to God and when God is talking back to her. When she ends her time of prayer she receives a phone call. When she looks at her cell phone she sees it is her sister, so instead of answering it she presses Ignore. " I am not up to talking to my sister today she gets on my nerves and the only reason she is calling is because she wants something!" This is a common scenario amongst our society. People of all different religions and walks of life have people in their life that they would rather not deal with. The poison in these situations: Always thinking we are just, without coming to grips with our OWN SHORTCOMINGS. Mark 11:25 (KJV)And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have aught against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

I know this message will be hard for many to digest. You might say "Well Kendra that is easy for you to say because you don't know my mom, she is such a pain to be around!" This is what I do know, it is impossible to live a life filled with Joy, Peace, and Purpose if we are avoiding and not restoring broken relationships. Even though you might walk around like you are happy and everything is just lovely, there is a void in your soul. Just think about it, I have mentored many young women that did not have their father in their lives. These beautiful girls attempt to fill that void by disrespecting their temple with drugs, unhealthy eating habits, and multiple sex partners just to name a few. What are you filling your void with? Some people are replacing it with fear, doubt, anger, anxiety, low self esteem, lust, food, unhealthy relationships (I could go on and on). My call to action is to really ask yourself are you doing everything in your power to restore those broken relationships? If the answer is no then make up in your mind and heart to be the one to reach out. We know neither today nor tomorrow is promised so do not allow these broken relationships to follow you to the grave. The spirit of Pride wants to make us think we are right and everyone else is wrong. The bottom line is when you make an attempt to reach out to someone that SHOULD be in your LIFE, your spiritual, mental, and physical temple will start to HEAL. That issue you are battling with in your mind and spirit just might disappear once you reach out to embrace the very person you have been avoiding. It is time for an Attitude Makeover: What is your Event/React Ratio?

Imagine you are driving down the road minding your own business when someone abruptly pulls out in front of you and almost causes a terrible wreck. To take it a step further you have your niece in the car who is only 2 years old! What would you do? The answer will surely vary depending upon your Event/React Ratio. Some people would chase the car down, getting within a hairs distance of running the car off the road to teach the driver a lesson. Some would lay on the horn and possibly say some words they would not dare share at Bible Study or in their Small Group. Others would give all praise and all glory to God for his Divine Protection, because what could have happened didn't happen. You get where I am going here. At one point in my life I can surely tell you I would have fit in the first two scenarios of getting myself all worked up to the point of wanting to get back at the driver. Said another way my level of Reacting would have outweighed the actual event itself. Let's go back to the driver that cut you off. What if you knew ahead of time that this driver was rushing his 5 year old daughter to the hospital, because she had just been hit by a car. If you knew this information it would surely change the way you React to the person who cut you off. You might say, "I will give him a break because he had an excuse." The point I am trying to make is right or wrong there is always two sides to a story. However, as human beings we are emotional and our first move is to react to what someone has done to hurt our feelings. Growing as a person and growing spiritually means your Reaction scale should continue to decrease over time. Our attitude can effect our family, friends, character, career, mental health, physical health, and spiritual well being just to name a few. Even though Jesus was called many names and mistreated on many occasions he continued to walk in the fruit of the spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control). This is what DETERMINED EVENTS SENT TO IGNITE A NEW YOU is all about. When an event good or bad comes our way, we should strive to have victory over the event with our attitudes and actions. This means loving someone when he hates you, helping someone when he closes the door in your face, and forgiving someone when he slanders your name. I know it is hard, but if we grab hold of becoming a New You we can all shine light upon the world. Let no foul or polluting language, nor evil word nor unwholesome or worthless talk ever come out of your mouth, but only such speech as is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of others, as is fitting to the need and the occasion, that it may be a blessing and give grace (God's favor) to those who hear it. Ephesians 4:29 Amplified. I will close with a quote by Charles R. Swindoll: "The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church.. a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past...we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you...we are in charge of our Attitudes."

Stop Existing and Start Living!

It is another amazing day that we have been blessed to experience, but the sad news is many people are walking around like everything in their life is messed up. The fact is no body's life is perfect, but the more we sweep our dirt under the rug the more trash we will collect. This trash will eventually take over our souls. The task for today is to start emptying the trash instead of hiding it. Face up to the secrets in your life that are not healthy for your spirit. If you are doing something in your life that you would be ashamed for someone to know, this is the trash God wants to help you empty. Life is too short to just exist, without fulfilling your purpose on earth. Every minute over 100 people will die, but you are still here reading these words. My question is when are you going to acknowledge your divine call to positively impact the world with your unique talents and ideas? There is a reason that you are still living, but you have to want to find out. To just exist in this miraculous world that God has created is such a waste. Look at yourself in the mirror and see the wondrous creation of the master. God has created each and everyone of us in his image. For this reason, start living again like we were all created to do. God gave us life so we could glorify him and help others along the way. Call to action: Accept the fact that God loves you beyond your wildest imagination and he wants you to LIVE AGAIN! Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Many Blessings from DYNAMIC DESTINY!
